WHAT IS THE AYSO RESIDENTIAL CAMP?

The AYSO Residential Soccer Camp is distinctly different from others, in that the focus is on the complete development of a player both on and off the pitch. Athletes will learn key elements needed to be a successful team player, as well as develop the level of personal responsibility needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond.

August 2nd to August 7th, 2009
Chapman University in Orange, California.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE RESIDENTIAL CAMP?

The Residential Soccer Camp is designed for soccer players between the ages of 12 and 17, who not only want to learn about soccer, but also about leadership and life skills

WHAT IS THE COST AND WHAT WILL THE ATHLETES RECEIVE?

The cost for the Camp is $595.00. The cost includes room and board (double occupancy). Each player will receive three t-shirts and a Molten soccer ball.

CURRICULUM

Soccer
The curriculum for the soccer portion of the AYSO Residential Soccer Camp will include the four attributes that make a good soccer player.

  • Technical Skills
    The AYSO Residential Soccer Camp will provide a progressive training program, focusing on improving the technical skills of each individual player.

  • Tactics
    The athletes will develop an understanding of their role on a team and further their understanding of the importance of different tactical approaches during a match.

  • Physical Abilities
    The AYSO Residential Soccer Camp will stress the importance of conditioning, physical training, and what it takes for a player to develop their body in order to maximize their performance.

  • Sports Psychology
    The AYSO Residential Soccer Camp will stress the importance of a healthy positive attitude towards training, teammates, opponents and most importantly the Game. Players will learn how to play their best under and conditions.

Leadership and Life Skills
The second portion of the Camp curriculum focuses on what it takes for a player to not only be a good soccer player, but a positive role model and leader.

  • Leadership and Academics
    Through the use of lecture and group activities will develop an understanding of what is needed to be a part of the team, on and off the field. They will develop leadership skills, including listening, team management, and decision making. Athletes will learn time management, communication skills and other tools they can use in their careers.

  • Health and Life Choices
    Athletes will learn about nutrition, hydration and how to develop positive eating habits. They will understand which food and fuel will help increase their performance and more importantly live a healthy life.

  • Personal and Community Responsibility
    Athletes will learn the responsibilities they have to themselves and their community. Activities will emphasize the importance of persona responsibility and community responsibility. A highlight of the week will be a training sessions for children from the AYSO VIP program. Athletes will work with children with special needs who, like the athletes, have a love for soccer.
